I pass this place, BJ’s Bar & Restaurant, every day on my way to and from work. When I got my Olympus OM-10 camera a few months ago, this sign was the first thing I wanted to shoot. As long as I have lived in the area (almost 15 years), the sign has never been lighted. One day, soon after this photo was taken, I noticed some men on ladders, looking at the sign. I thought, “Oh no, they are going to take it down. What a shame – glad I got a photo while I still could.” To my surprise and delight, a few days later, I was on my way home at night and saw that the sign had been completely restored. Needless to say, when the weather gets better, I will be shooting it at night, in its full lighted glory.
By the way, I got my film processed and scanned by North Coast Photographic Services, after reading raves about them on Ken Rockwell’s site. I can’t speak highly enough about the high level of service, quality of the processing and scanning, and great value they offer. I highly recommend them.
Very cool great to see such a classic iconic sign saved
